Getting Support for Tobacco Cessation

Pharmacological Interventions and Nicotine Replacement Therapies (NRTs): Some common medications include nicotine replacement therapies (NRTs), such as nicotine patches, gums, lozenges, and inhalers, which provide controlled doses of nicotine to help wean off the habit gradually. Other medications, like bupropion and varenicline, work by reducing withdrawal symptoms and blocking nicotine receptors in the brain, making smoking less satisfying. Combining these medications with behavioral support and counseling can significantly increase the chances of successfully quitting smoking. Learn more about the options here!

North American Quitline Consortium (NAQC): The NAQC is an international organization that seeks to promote evidence-based quitline services. Head to their national map to see what cessation services are offered in your state, such as free or discounted cessation medications or phone and web-based counseling! Click here to access the map.
